Chapter 148 - Human Trafficker

The thought alone made Jiang Hao's teeth ache with frustration.

“What now?” he muttered to himself.

If he intervened now to take the little girl from the woman's grasp, he risked being misunderstood by onlookers, which would be more than just a little embarrassing.

“No, I can't just snatch her away unless it's the last resort. She's right here next to me; no need to panic.”

With that in mind, Jiang Hao's thoughts raced as he searched for a solution.

Just then, he noticed a pair of soldiers standing guard by the traffic lights at the intersection ahead, which made his eyes sparkle with an idea.

Right at that moment, the traffic light turned red, and the bus carrying Jiang Hao was forced to a halt.

The bus was a mere sixty to seventy meters from the soldiers on duty.

The female trafficker sitting next to Jiang Hao caught sight of the soldiers, and a flicker of panic crossed her eyes.

Without drawing attention, Jiang Hao stole a glance at the trafficker and silently activated his Thousand Mile Sound Transmission skill.

A unique ripple of sound flowed from Jiang Hao's mouth, targeting the soldiers on duty.

Sun Zhengyi was leading his soldiers in a disciplined patrol when suddenly a voice reached his ears.

“Soldier, on the bus at the left intersection, there's a woman trafficking a child.

She's holding a little girl about three or four years old, sitting in the third seat from the left.

The child's name is Yi Xiaobei. Hurry and rescue her!”

“Who's there?” Sun Zhengyi called out, looking around in bewilderment, but he found no one.

Then, almost instinctively, his gaze shifted to the nearby bus.

His fellow soldiers, wearing puzzled looks, chimed in.

“Monitor, did you hear that too?”

Little Wang's question sent a ripple of surprise through the group.

“Reporting to the monitor, I heard it as well!”

“Did someone mention a trafficker on the bus?”

“Monitor, should we check it out?”

Initially hesitant, Sun Zhengyi's resolve firmed up as he realized that with so many confirming they heard the voice, it couldn't just be a figment of his imagination.

Regarding the voice that had just spoken, Sun Zhengyi believed it was telling the truth.

Nevertheless, he felt compelled to investigate to put his mind at ease, regardless of its veracity.

At that moment, Sun Zhengyi gave the command:

“Wang Shouren!”

“Present!”

“Direct that bus to pull over for inspection!”

“Understood!”

“Everyone else, follow me to conduct the inspection!”

“Understood!”

True to the reputation of China's disciplined military, the orders were executed promptly and efficiently, without any delay.

Wang Shouren sprinted to the front of the bus, signaling for the driver to pull over.

Though confused, the bus driver complied with the instruction.

Jiang Hao, witnessing the scene, allowed a small smirk to form. He had overheard every word exchanged between Sun Zhengyi and Wang Shouren.

The human trafficker next to Jiang Hao tensed up at the sight, his anxiety mounting.

Meanwhile, the passengers' reactions varied from noisy commotion to surprise and confusion.

Approaching the vehicle, Sun Zhengyi knocked on the door, which the driver promptly opened.

With curious eyes upon them, Sun Zhengyi and his team boarded the bus.

“Apologies, we are carrying out an operation. Please present your IDs for inspection.”

Despite their reservations, the passengers began to retrieve their identification.

The soldiers quickly commenced their checks.

Sun Zhengyi himself took charge of inspecting the passengers seated on the left side.
