Chapter 154 - Who Is the Smart One?

They had just been mocking Jiang Hao for being a fool, but as it turned out, he was the only one with real smarts!

At that moment, the vendor was kicking himself the hardest.

He was green with envy and regret—it had been his item, after all!

Yet, the thought of someone else being worse off than him offered a slight consolation.

Imagine the young man's face if he knew the trinket he sold for 2,000 dollars was actually worth upwards of ten million!

Feng Anshi watched Jiang Hao walk away, his eyes brimming with a sense of loss.

And with that, a spark of curiosity about Jiang Hao.

“How did he know?”

But the answer was beyond anyone's reach.

Jiang Hao, oblivious to the murmurs around him, had left.

The afternoon brought him a modest haul—a Ming Dynasty calligraphy painting, an antique fan, a Tang Dynasty coin, and a pair of Tiger Talismans.

Later, without any significant finds, Jiang Hao decided to head home with his treasures.

The buzz was all about his purchase of the Tiger Talismans for two thousand, now rumored to be worth a fortune. The news had spread like wildfire.

Finding another bargain was unlikely, especially since he had attracted unwanted attention.

Indeed, he was being watched.

Their eyes were fixed on the Tiger Talismans he possessed.

With a value of at least ten million, they were a risk worth taking for some.

Rising from a stall, Jiang Hao covertly glanced at the corner behind him.

Four figures were intently watching him.

As he stood, they averted their gaze.

The situation was straight out of a movie scene, and Jiang Hao couldn't help but smile slightly.

“Never thought I'd find myself in a plot like this,” he mused.

Without a hint of concern, Jiang Hao turned and walked away. The four in the corner exchanged glances and hurried after him.

Some bystanders caught the scene but merely shook their heads.

“The Liu Yun Association moves fast. That kid's going to need all the luck he can get now!”

“Isn't that the truth! To snag a Tiger Talisman and not beat a hasty retreat, staying around like that? Greed can lead to one's downfall!”

A few elders watched Jiang Hao depart and shook their heads in dismay.

They could predict that the young man was either going to be stripped of his Tiger Talisman or left crippled!

No one favored Jiang Hao's chances against the powerful Liu Yun Association, given his lack of connections.

Jiang Hao left the antique street with an impassive face, scouting the area as he made his way to a less crowded spot.

The four men trailing him were baffled.

“Guys, does something feel off to you?”

“Why is he picking the less crowded paths?”

“Boss, isn't this better for us? There's no one to interrupt our business!”

……

Upon hearing this, the four men harbored no doubts and kept up with him.

Soon enough, Jiang Hao zigzagged and ducked into a small alley.

It seemed to be a demolition zone, conveniently deserted. Jiang Hao came to a halt.

He turned around, a smile playing on his lips, as he faced the four young men who had followed him.

They exchanged glances, and one spoke up.

“Kid, you've been aware of us for quite some time, huh?”

“But you didn't run. Instead, you led us here. You must be scared!”

“Well then, just hand over everything of value you've got. Maybe if grandpa here is pleased, he'll spare you!”

“Or else…”

At that, the other three caught on and each pulled out a baton.

With a flick of their wrists, they brandished the batons menacingly at Jiang Hao, their eyes dark with malice, and sneered with a cold snort.

“Hmph!”
