    SUMMARY

I died on my twenty-ninth birthday.

I died amidst the flames ignited by the nine hundred and ninety-ninth scent I crafted for Julian Lancaster.

While inhaling the scent of cedarwood ignited by my own hands and the smell of my own scorched flesh, I listened to the cries of the firefighters within the raging inferno.

“Mr. Lancaster! The fire is too intense, Miss Everard is still inside, if we don't rescue her now, it will be too late!”

Outside the fire scene, there was dead silence, broken only by the crackling of burning wood.

Julian did not speak, and no one dared to rush in.

I watched as the flames consumed the fragrance manuscripts I treasured, those that represented generations of the Everard Family's hard work.

My heartbeat grew slower until it finally stopped.

In the last moment of fading consciousness, I heard Julian's voice, cold and devoid of any emotion.

“As long as the formula is obtained, let her burn completely, saves the trouble.”

With those parting words, the endless darkness engulfed me entirely.

Upon opening my eyes again, I was reborn.
