A modern US soldier and his batallion die immediately when flying to a rapid mobilization order in Iraq. The Goddess Triamal saves the batallion and offers them a tantalizing offer: Live a second time with a chance for redemption, or die and return to Earth. This is not a “guy gains a system, and speed blitzes everything” story, there are stakes, there will be death, and the pacing may slow at times.
